Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and new to the hunt for Forest Fenn's treasure. I first heard of the treasure the other night on Expedition Unknown with Josh Gates. I scratched my head and wonder how I have never heard about this before now, especially since it was put out back in 2010. Oh well, better late than never I suppose.

I currently live in Southern California where the only snow I see is on the mountain tops hours away. I am originally from Northeast Texas and moved out here back in 2006. I am in the EMS field as an EMT and lastly as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher. Due to recent health issues lately, I may be fully retiring here pretty soon. (More time to hunt for the treasure then.)

I am really looking forward to reading all of the various entries and see what all matches up to what I believe so far. Since learning of this whole deal, I have been digging in really deep. It has captured me in a sense. I may not find the TC, but I definitely plan on enjoying myself while out on the chase. Since winter is settling down across The Rockies, I have time to make discoveries and plans for an adventure out to physically put feet on the ground somewhere.

Happy Hunting!!

Let me be the first to welcome you tortman to the chase and here on the chat...You'll find much to read to catch up to the latest debates on what in the poem means what...

Ideas abound and are as varied as the searchers espousing them or arguing the merits of this interpretation over that one...

Just remember to have fun and don't take criticism too seriously when a devils' advocate takes issue with your ideas or remarks...

We are all in the same boat here after all...None of us has the chest so who or what is right remains unkown...

Best of luck to ya!...

See ya.........Sam
Hey Tortman, any general ideas about this you want to share? Have you watched all the Fenn talking videos or mysterious writings questions?
Thanks for the welcome! Here are some of my thoughts so far, and remember, I am new to this. FF took his time to come up with this whole plan of things. He is not a regular run of the mill type person, but rather a true go get her. He is a rather smart character and is not to be taken lightly at all. He reminds me of my Granddad a bunch. Even though cancer got a hold of him, he resisted and fought back hard. Another prime example of his character.

Even with the cancer in remission, he went out and placed the TC one afternoon. He said that he made two trips in one afternoon. He made those trips from his car/truck. He also mentioned that his wife did not even notice that he was gone. So, that makes me think that the TC is in either NM or CO. From Santa Fe, he could be in either location within an hour and a half or two. Then the two trips to situate the treasure, and bam, a drive back home in time for supper and the wife is none the wiser.

I also think that many are really going too deep with the poem. No, I do not have a solve yet, but I know that Mr. Fenn stated that all you need is the poem and a good map. He said that a child could find it. "Don't mess with my poem!", is what I remember reading on something he said. (I am already going on brain overload with all of the reading.) There are supposed to be nine clues in the poem and they are to be done in order, no mixing them up.

So, if a child can find it, then all of the scientific scenarios and mathematical solutions are way too deep for this particular treasure hunt. Remember to KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid. A term used in the Army years ago...lol. Have small children handy? Your own, grand kids, nieces or nephews, or even the neighbor kid....get them to look at it and ask them questions. We as adults have to go back to thinking like we did as a kid.

I read these post from 2012 and 2013 and some of these folks really are convinced they have the solve. Apparently not, as FF has said that the TC is still where he placed it. It is going on six years now and some have got close, but it still has not been found. Will it in our lifetime? Who knows, but I'd like it to be me to find the TC. Just as everyone else wants to do the same. It is going to take time and patience to unfold all of the mysteries. Think about it, if it were easy, someone would have found it already. Instead, thousands upon thousands are out searching with no results yet.

With that, I'll start my reading through tons of posts again. I want to order the books. Is there a better place than Amazon to order them?
I would ask you to add one thing to your thought process.
This issue is even hinted in the poem.
Why has he done this? IMO to leave his legacy, his legend, his story while doing good for the world. Therfore, the chase IS about the places he spoke of in his books. I would challenge that any serious searcher, must start with those places else why write anything more than the poem? Convenience has little to do with legacy.

Tortman...You might try Collected Works Book Store in Santa Fe, NM since they have rights to TTOTC and TFTW, the Fenn books...Probably the best pricing as well...

http://www.collectedworksbookstore.com...

You're welcome...
Thanks Sam. I left a message with Santa about it. Now to wait and see.
I have a serious question for anybody that can answer it for me. I know what hoB means, home of Brown. So what does hoD mean? I have come across hoD in several post and I have no idea what it stands for.

wwwh = where warm waters halt
TTOTC = The Thrill of the Chase
TFTW = Too Far to Walk
TC = Treasure Chest
hoB = home of Brown
hoD = ??

Also, how does one insert a picture on a post?

Thanks and Happy Hunting!

Tortman...hoD is a snide reference to Dal Neitzel's blog "The Thrill Of The Chase: Searching For Forrest Fenn's Treasure"...It relates to the heavy handed way his blog is handled by his major moderator known as Goofy, formerly known as Goofy old Guy, aka GoG...Say the wrong thing, accuse or aggravate someone, state an opinion as fact, etc. and Goofy will hit the 'nuke button' on you and you will be kicked off the blog and not allowed to post there again...Many compare Goofy to a 'little Hitler'...He was a much nicer guy before he became moderator...Now I think he has developed a complex...He appears to be way to sensitive and some humor is totally lost on him...Beware if you post over there, they have a set of rules you must abide by or it's so long and good riddance...LOL...

The posting a picture thing I can't help you with, never posted one myself...I think it is a matter of a copy and paste operation, but I've never tried it...Perhaps another can instruct you better in this regard...

Good luck and good hunting...

.........Sam
Thanks for clearing that up for me Sam. I have not posted much there at all, maybe two posts so far. I'll try to be good and stay under the radar there though.
