Right on Desertphile
No one is going to willingly give up that chest if they find it. I bet if an employee for the park service in a place like Yellowstone found it they would do their best to keep it their little secret.
Managing the treasure might be a problem. I am so confident that I will find it this summer so I am putting a plan in place to handle it already. Arrogance? Of course! But I prefer to call it confidence. Smile

Will it tell you exactly where and when I found it? heh, not a chance.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's here and that somebody will find it very soon. That is, unless it has already been found by someone who's keeping it under wraps in order to avoid taxes. Reddit hinted that someone named OP had posted lots of messages and pics, then suddenly deleted everything and can't be found, at the same time old coins began to show up in Colorado coin shops. Any news about this, anyone?

...I think that if any coins of that kind started showing up anywhere Forrest would know about it in short order. I also think there is an IOU of some sort in there and Forrest has to unlock it. I don't know anyone that would throw away that kind of money just to keep it quite.I also know there is a code of some sort with directions to the finder and you will have to tell Forrest what it is.
Now your just making up s***.

It's easy to see how rumors get started.
I think the best thing is to contact Fenn ,he also said he would buy back some items.I recall reading about a silver bracelet he wants back, maybe he wants more items. This would be some relief for the finder. It would be good to know the list of items he wants back though.

I've heard this before, but wondered what happens if the chest is found after ff has passed?
Then I guess the finder wont tell Forrest about it. You don't do much when you are dead. Go show it to Peggy and see what she thinks if she is around when it is found.
I would leave Peggy alone in her bereavement. She knows who Forrest is, she doesn't need some whackjob pestering her about her late husband. If it's found after he's gone and Peggy is still with us, just drop a simple card thanking her and Forrest for such a wonderful ride. And expect nothing in return.

As for the coins, for them to make a blip on the rare gold coin radar they would have to be at least 10x spot value. And that raises the value of the Chest considerably if they are all that rare. Otherwise they are just gold coins, like thousands of others traded daily. No note would be taken. The nuggets would be traceable. There's probably less than a dozen guys in the world that regularly handle one pound nuggets often enough to be players. And they know to be watching if those nuggets turn up. And they would let him know.
