The Whistler "Treasure Hunt"
On about when Forrest was a young lad (15 1/2), the CBS Radio Network aired an episode of The Whistler called "Treasure Hunt" (January 21, 1946).

Now Forrest has mentioned he use to listen to such radio shows back in the day, and seeing he's always had a fancy for treasure and lost things, I bet he listened to this one.

What's particularly interesting about "Treasure Hunt" is that it's (partly) about some old fellow that hid treasure and then devised a poem with clues (in the verses) to help others find it.

Sound familiar? Perhaps this episode of the Whistler planted a seed in Forrest. And if so, maybe there's a few little tidbits of intel one can glean to find Mr. Fenn's treasure chest.

You can listen to the 30 minute broadcast on Youtube, or other sources. The 'poem' part starts at about 13:50, but the whole show is rather entertaining. Here's the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/LuDhwGqDmy0

Good luck, we're all counting on you.

I remain,
Siddhartha Finch

yes. i've downloaded the audio files from that site over the years

when you listen to it, its basically like someone tuning across different stations on the radio and the whistler radio program is in segments on there

and someone added farting sounds at the part where he's talking to the Sheriff and says so thats the way the wind blows
