Why Frosty?
Well, not so fast. I’m not ready to concede anything just yet.

To top it off, Mr Moen doesn’t provide a source for the “Frosty” nickname. Forrest is the only one to use that name for Conrad, to my knowledge. This is all too flimsy to accept as an awe-shucks story.

It’s pretty funny, huh.

@beavertooth, I also think time is significant to understanding TTOTC. Forrest threw time in the trash. So, time is irrelevant. The stories jump around in time.

From the posting at Dal's -- "because he is at several occasions listed in the phonebook as Frosty Tornes".

Why Frosty?
So, I worked for this guy when I was in high school and he had a name that I’ll never forget. It was something like Richard Head, but worse. Anyway, we just called him Dick.

The way the story goes, if I were to want to nit-pick him I would have called him Fuzzy or something. He was just out of the marines and still sported his buzz haircut.

The point is why call a guy by his nickname, but later say that you were nit-picking when asked why you changed the name. So, was the “Old Fred” the nit-picking? It doesn’t make sense. Why not say I didn’t remember so I just wrote old Fred to finish the story, then later I remembered, or whatever.

Seems to me that there’s something else at play, and I’m happy to play along. Remember, this book wrote itself.

Or, it was Cynthia that was nit-picking. Forrest didn’t want to respond to a direct question about TTOTC. That’s the usual response.

He didn't say it's not a hint. Why would he confirm or deny something in the book being a hint? Cynthia said she doesn't think it's a hint.

It's nit picking because it's not very important.

RE: Why Frosty?
people, not an 8, not a poker hand (though I showed how poem could give you pair of Jack's in lines 19/20 and the Polaris full house is in poem, well about it) but that's not the hints. I posted years ago snowman with Burl (line 22 with 23) Ives bu that's not it either. Foot, knot-not, hot water, clouds killing rainbows, baldhead and a couple more border ideas but it means nohing to you till you have WwwSh (boiled and dry) and running man. Stair all you want, fight it, fight me but devil is in details. He spoon fed confirmations, not hints, in post book, communications. Why leave out 46 years out of his last post about book "sent" to him? I know, if you don't , your in wrong area.
