Scrapbooks 203 and 204
Thanks to Newbie for pointing out a new scrapbook at home of Dal.

Based on the timing of the original ff book review in 2007 (?), it is very possible that this article contains a strong hint in it. I say this because of the other articles he wrote for newspapers in the Billings/West Yellowstone area that predated TTOTC and were subsequently incorporated into it.

It has always seemed to me that he was originally planning on scattering hints in other publications before he decided to publish TTOTC.

Leaving this one out, but resurrecting it now, suggests that it might have an important hint in it.

So good luck all you hint seekers!

If anyone has a subscription to newspaper archives online, it would be nice to know when this article actually appeared, and whether anything has changed.

Huckleberry Finn (Fenn?) : "ignorant, unwashed, insufficiently fed; but he had as good a heart as ever any boy had. His liberties were totally unrestricted. He was the only really independent person—boy or man—in the community, and by consequence he was tranquilly and continuously happy and envied by the rest of us."

y'all have recognized that low-hanging fruit ties in directly to an important comment f has made in regards to the first clue and what comes after?

Is that the important comment you’re referring to?

you got the right idea

i was thinking of the comment where he said the clues get progressively easier

edit: there was also a letter he got from a young girl where she asks him for an easy clue

SB204 is a nice quick one. He mentions mom's jam again, and hot biscuits. The rest of it is all berries and bears. Wheaties yes, strawberries, no. Stained fingers.

Dunno if this got posted yet but the Fenn thing on Levin appeared in Dear Paso, Feb 9-13 (if I read it right) 2007 under the heading: Notes from a Santa Fe art-world top dog. The Pasatiempo insinuation Forrest insinuates appeared on Jan 26 2007.

Did anything change between the February 2007 article and the Scrapbook?

Not sure. The copy from Pasatiempo was scanned. I ran OCR on it but there are quite a few errors in the OCRed version. If I bother to correct the errors I'll let you know. Of course the formatting is different. Forrest is big into reformatting.
