Dead Dog
Gilbert Gaul

I believe the dog is John Tunstall

The Englishman in the movie Chisum

I have been debating if this was John or William. Since William is in another chapter , this must be John

William told Governor Wallace. That he wanted to protection for testimony in a murder trial. He feared that he “would be shot like a dog.

John was murdered by the Lincoln County Sheriff Posse. When they reached John he was already on his way to Lincoln with 9 horses. He was shot once in the chest, then another member of the posse shot him, at point blank range. With a shotgun to the head.

The murder of John was the spark that ignited the Lincoln County War. This was a three year blood bath.

The murder of John would also cause one of his employees to form a gang, to avenge the death of his boss.

William would then become known as Billy The Kid. His gang was the regulators.

These two men will not help you in the chase.

After my extensive research, these two men were never north of Santa Fe. I can place them both here at different times. Just nothing north. Which leads me to believe the people he mentions in the book are not helpful.

These are people in history that he wants us to know about.

Yes I have read that story. I am not so sure that I am buying that.

Pat Garrett would not have went through the public humiliation, if he didn’t kill Billy.

He shot Billy in the dark. Billy did not see him in Maxwells bedroom. Billy asked who is it. Pat knew Billy’s voice. At the same time Maxwell says it’s him. Billy bolts Pat shoots.

Pat says that he fired two shots. 1 hit billy in the chest and the other went in the wall.

That night 4 men heard 3 shots. They never found a bullet.

They have no idea if Billy ever fired a shot.

I don’t understand your comment.
I am talking about this painting.
Not a conspiracy theory

You ruled out Billy because he had never been north of Santa Fe. Brushy Bill may have been north of Santa Fe. Maybe Fenn saw him perform or met him along the way. I like to keep an open mind.

RE: Dead Dog
There is a John involved, but not ANY old john and not your John. Don't go/look/search where a 79-80 year old man couldn't GO lol.
Why couldn't a 79-80 year old man GO there? We will confirm the right answer to his little riddle in this statement but mot show where.
