Did 'the chase' drive some people insane?
Do you ever read a forum post and ask yourself " this person crazy?" I always wonder if they were mentally impaired before 'the chase' started or if they were slowly driven to madness over several years. What do you think...did 'the chase' drive some people insane?

No. They were all ready mentally impaired. The Chase was like a moth to the flame.

Oh definitely, I was a tad unstable before the chase, this hoopla pushed me RIGHT over the edge. Hahaha...

The Chase came right in to compound blogger insanity, mass self-hypnosis, gold fever and the staunch confirmation bias of the presidential age, and solidified the anger of 499,999 people.

I don't know about insane....but I definitely went through depression. For me it wasn't about the money that gave me that feeling even though it was the money that I did want of course. It was that I put so much time and money into the chase and Forrest was giving hints and clues...once I realized that...I felt cheated that it wasn't a fair race. Yes, I was getting some apparent hints...but I would have loved no one getting any hints from the get go.

The insane searcher is the last to know s/he is insane. So I will point out there are significant number (ok all of them) of poem purists that are insane IMO and their state of denial is evidence to that. Some as so insane they are now saying that poem purists use hints in TTOTC (read Seannm).

Are you asking if the Chase made me (and other searcher individually) driven insane or are you asking if, in our opinion, someone else was driven insane?
No, I was not driven insane by the Chase; it actually gave me a reason to do something instead of sitting in my house and not exercising much. Actually lost weight hobbling through the wilderness "out west" (as opposed to "back east") since I had never ventured west of the Mississippi River.
Now, as to address other posters, I have a distinct impression they may have a disillusion or two. I won't commit to a definite yes.
just saying ss
