The SS Islander…
Just read interesting story by Dal called "The SS Islander..."

https://dalneitzel.com/2020/11/18/island...ent-980379

About Crayton Fenn (Forrest’s nephew and Skippy’s son) and a boat full of gold that sank off of Alaska. In the end, sounds like he got screwed by the courts. Not too surprising I suppose. Makes you wonder why anyone bothers with treasure hunting when Uncle Sam just steals it from you at the end of the day.

RE: Fenn Estate Sale
Shilo is now in charge of “The Collection” and is representing the Fenn dynasty. Emphasis on the “nasty” part.

The mine field that he faces is all of the reproductions that Fenn has claimed as authentic.

Shilo doesn’t have the talent of BS and the pedestal of the self made “expert” in any field, let alone the collection of so called authentic artifacts.

Who wants to purchase the Jackie O bottle of brandy for $10k?

Buyer beware.

I suspect that Shilo will eventually figure out he is over his head, and call in one of Fenn’s old digging buddies.

RE: Fenn Estate Sale
Easy solve.

Verify the home insurance. If I had to guess I would say Fenn insured every single piece in that house.
Set the house on fire.
Claim it must of been one of the crazy pissed off searchers who did it out of spite. You already have plenty of evidence of transpassing.
Deposit large lump sum.

And the moral of the story is....

If you're a millionaire who wants to be famous but nobody is buying any of your books, do NOT start a million dollar treasure hunt and go on national TV. Just accept your life for what it is and enjoy the rest of your days with your family.

Just think about how much time he took away. How much family time was replaced by treasure time. But thats none of my business.

Whew! Fortunately I'm not a millionaire. Dodged that bullet.

Mongo, where did you hear that Shiloh inherited the Fenn collection? Just curious.

RE: Shilo inheritance
I once asked Forrest if anyone in his family was into his collection and he said no one was. Just thought that was sad...but can relate to that. Some family members just aren't.

Chapter 1 in The Thrill of the Chase is all you need to read to see his sadness (and anger). Just think.....all that he's collected and he didn't bring any of it with him. Decades from now it'll be spread out all over the world again.

Curious though, did he want to die at home to be with his family or was it more important to him to die surrounded by all of his stuff?
