Two Trips?

Two Trips?
Forrest said he made two trips.... This is an easy one. He made the first trip to build the "hide" site. The second trip was to hide the treasure. That treasure is hidden under rocks and wood and camouflaged into the Earth waiting for a person a thousand years from now to discover it. My gut tells me that Forrest values historical finds.. and that would mean he wants someone a 1,000 or 2,000 years from now to find it.. The further into the future the better.

My question is this... Can you imagine the metal hunting technologies will exist a 100 years from now? A "Bronze" detector that can find any bronze box sitting in a field, under rocks, wood, etc. that can be scanned to any depth. Just like Police Helicopters use infrared imaging to find suspects hiding at night by detecting their sweaty body heat.. that bronze box will give off a trace source and our kids' kids will be walking around with iphones that can see into those hidden caches.

No mystery, no me that thought is Sad.

glock, no it's not sad. There will always be mysteries to discover and surprises to be had. A thousand years ago, you would have been burned at the stake as a witch for trying to discover the secrets of the human body by dissection. A thousand years before that, Jesus was executed for trying to reveal the mysteries of the spiritual world to us. Ten thousand years before that some caveman had his head bashed in for inventing the wheel. And a hundred thousand years before that some neaderthal had his throat slit for taming fire.

There will always be secrets to discover. Don't be sad that your mysteries will not be secrets forever. Be happy that they will be uncovered so that human knowledge can continue to expand. And maybe, just maybe, if you are lucky and smart and in the right place at the right time, you can be a part of the advancement of human endeavor.

Yes, I agree with you. There will always be surprises. Who knows if his Chest will be found during our lifetimes, or perhaps we may stumble upon other treasures while looking for this! :-)

November... Its too much of a pain in the A to drive anywhere in snow conditions.... talk about adding hours to a drive. No Thanks! The areas I would drive to... roads get shut down, big rigs slide off highways, you might as well apply and be an ICE ROAD TRUCKER! Also...If you slam into a ditch, get stuck, etc. You freeze to death. No Thanks! I am a summer guy when it comes to the Rockies.

I believe rumor is the operative word here.

Fenn is what the CIA calls the "Gray Man"... A typical old white guy blending into his environment as a fisherman, hunter, etc... No one would really even notice him!

I know this is an older thread but I'm new to this game, and I'm sure I don't have all ( or hardly any with the way people speak in code on here ) the facts right but other then someone just following FF out of the blue why would he need to worry about someone following him. Did he mention he was doing this before he did? Also I'm pretty sure I saw him quoted somewhere as saying that "he didn't bury it but that it might be buried now" and that "you can't walk all the way there" which leads me to think he "might" have dropped it in somewhere and maybe water. He mentioned it being cold and needing a flashlight which it would be dark possibly at bottom of water.. Has he ever mentioned anything that would rule under water out?

Hello n2mini and welcome to the chase.

In regards to your last question, he has said that the treasure chest is exposed to the elements and can be scorched by fire.

IMO it still does not rule out the possibility of it being underwater. Your quote with Forrest saying he cant walk all the way there is quite interesting, it goes along with my case in Wyoming. Not so with the other quote, ('he didnt bury it but that it might be buried now')
