Many people have tried manipulating the poem, Toby took the idea further with segues. What did Mr. Fenn have to say about it in the poem? "hear me all and listen good". The aberrations are thoughts that are right in front of our face as we read his childhood accounts of events, the common place stuff, not the stuff that makes us stop and go Hmmm.

James...on "edges"...in the poem "The end is ever drawing nigh"...a definition of "end" is "a part on the edge or limit of an area" or "a boundary"...maybe one that cannot or should not be crossed, or overlooked?... Smile

And in the book, he went into "Borders" twice.

When you read a poem carefully, you ARE listening. Listen closely to the poem and hear the meanings.

Yes, when you get to the end of something, you might be on an edge, and/or a border with something else. Or, to go full circle as Forrest quotes T.S., at the beginning.

And yes, Forrest made two trips to Borders for books, for "important literature". But to where else did he make two important trips?

To his secret where; once with his cold bronze and once with his new riches...

I think it's the other way around.
