Willow tree in Forrest's backyard?

Someone recently posted a picture of a tree trunk and claimed a "F" was carved in it (I couldn't see it) and then claimed 100% that it was Forrest who carved it. The tree had, what most thought might have been barbed-wire wrapped around it, but I believe it was a strand of lights. There is an image that Forrest caught of a fox in his backyard at night in scrapbook 20, that shows several strands of lights wrapped around trees. So I believe that this photo was taken, by the person who shared it, from Forrest's backyard, and is the only way that they could be 100% sure it was him who carved it, and why they are sure you would be arrested if you tried to cut it down, LOL. Also they showed an image with a small section of plywood depicting stained images of sunbursts and the square and compass symbol. This plywood may also have been taken at his residence since it resembles the makeshift display table found in his garage.

What was their point? That they'd visited his home?

No, that the blaze could be carved in a similar location on a tree. But as The Count pointed out, a carving on a tree doesn't stand the test of time.

A carving on a tree would be feasible to remove, the whole tree for that matter isn't there a quote about that somewhere?

Also I remember stories where mischievous searchers carve FF into things so beware...

And to any newbie if you feel something is important or you wish to study it latter for any reason I would recommend a screen shot.

A tree, let alone in ffs back yard does not seem to be feasible. Forrest said so and remember he has protective orders against people who have trespassed on his property. Please don't go to his home. This was inappropriate IMO to link ffs house and the blaze. I can't reread the thread so not sure exactly what was said, but it seems several have made that connection.

Agree on the screen shots, I just mentioned that on another thread.

Yes, I specifically said I was not referencing that particular tree. I don't think you need to trespass on anyone's property. The thread was simply an example of where a blaze on a tree might be.

Mindy please, are you being silly or condescending with this tree carving/blaze? Forrest said there's 10 billion blazes out there. No way is it a tree carving.

You're probably right. I just thought it would be a cool place to put a blaze. Maybe an F carved high on a boulder? Then look quickly down?

I didn't mean to come off as condescending. But I'm always a little silly. Please forgive me if I gave any impression of inappropriate behavior.

You know what I think would be one of the best blazes is? A white quartz vein in the shape of a F, there's lots of quartz's veins in the Rockies but a unique one like that could not be over looked. Plus at one time there was lots of talk about the blaze being white. And any good prospector knows where quartz is gold is not far away

I would love for the blaze to jump out at you. Where you walk around a corner and get slugged with an ah hah moment! Temporarily lose your breath.... say "so there you are!"
