Secrets

RE: Secrets
It seems most people took this question differently than I did, so I will clarify. I would certainly let everyone know I found it and provide some proof. Whether or not I said where I found it, or if there were another secret involved, my previous post would apply.

RE: Secrets
meekmouse has it right. What if the finder hasn't told anyone, how long do we continue searching? Very unfair to the rest if the solution has been found.

When has anyone ever said that the outcome of the chase is going to be fair?

Most can't seem to look beyond the fact that since the chest was hidden so late in Fenns life that he most likely did NOT intend for the chest to be found in his life time. Once a searcher realizes this it makes one look at the outcome vastly different.

Also to believe that Fenn can't alter the outcome of the chase from his grave with 15 years of thought while he is alive may be fool hearty.

If I were so fortunate to find the gold, I for one would let you all know, and happily prove it to be so.

If Mr. Fenn wanted to keep the place secret, why would he publish a poem that anyone can use to find the location? It wouldn't make much sense to then later ask everyone, not just the finder, to keep it a secret. He has already said it's out of his hands now. Do you believe the man or don't you?

Why wouldn’t it make sense? If I have solved the poem, and I know the secret, and I know it is a secret to Mr. Fenn, and he has asked me to keep it secret, should I keep it a secret or betray his trust? Would you betray his trust? Has he ever once said that if you solve the poem to let everybody know that you have. I think he said he would know when it is found. He never said to tell anybody, and he never said that he would tell anybody what his secret is, or the secret place....its all in the poem. Yes, I have faith that he is telling the truth, and him asking you to go in peace may be his way of asking that you do go in peace. Will you be the one to betray his trust and expose the secret if he asks you to keep it secret? This poem may be about more than just a box full of goodies and our greed to own it. Greed is not trustworthy IMO.

It's not a secret. It's published, public information. If someone does not understand the poem, that doesn't mean the information is secret. Mr. Fenn said that it was out of his hands. He has not asked anyone to 'keep it a secret' because it is not a secret.

If Mr. Fenn asked me to keep it a secret, I would say "Mr Fenn, why are you asking me to keep secret something that you have already told the world about, publishing a poem that has everything anyone needs to know, as well as over time throwing out more hints, which are also public information?" Mr Fenn has made it clear that he does not want to give anyone an advantage over others, and at the same time I don't believe he would place demands, like 'keeping a secret' on one person and not others. Mr Fenn has also stated that he thinks the kind of person who finds the treasure would be someone who can't keep a secret.

If Mr. Fenn asked me to 'keep the secret' I would say 'Sorry, Mr. Fenn, but you already let the cat out of the bag.'
