From Cynthia’s blog
“I would like to go back to West Yellowstone one last time, for personal reasons. I would like to see if my mother’s pansy bed is still thriving. But my wife can’t travel and I won’t leave her.” Forrest Fenn 4/18/2018

RE: Forrest Fenn Random Words
For an annual like a pansy, the flowers would have had to reseed themselves, which they can do. However, they are only rated to zone 7 plant hardiness level, and West Yellowstone would be a 3 or a 4. It seems very unlikely that they would survive to regenerate each year.

So Forrest is joking, or means something else.

Interesting...hmmmmm....

Maybe he meant “memory garden.”

Pansy literally means “thought, remembrance,” from the past participle of “penser” — “to think”, which comes from Latin “pendere”— “to hang, weigh, pay.” The PIE root is from a word that meant “to draw, stretch, spin.” The flower was called a pansy because it was a symbol of thought of remembrance.

And with that thought, check out where “bed” comes from at http://www.etymonline.com.

Didn't he say not long ago that he couldn't go back to the place? Now he gives a reason he can't go there...

I have always known pansies to be a perennial. I have pansies growing in my rock garden and no matter how much I pull them up, they keep coming back. Cheers!

Are any of the flowers in the right Viking planter pansies?

Look for hints to the search area as:

""I wood like to go back to West (west arm of Y image) Y.L.Low.S.to.n.e @1:00 o'clock L.as.T T.I'm.e, 4 purse.on.L reas (?).on.S. I wood like to C if m.Y m.otter's pants.Y be.d is still 3.V.in.G. Butt m.Y w.if.e c.ant tra(3).V.L and I w.on.T levee her.""

This may not be what Forrest intended for this statement but it is the KEY method to interpreting some of his poem and many of his hints.

As I've stated elsewhere, many hints come from the letters C, d, e, G, K, L, m, p, S, T, U, V, w, X, Y, and the numbers 4 and 8. Letters are case sensitive.

All of the above hints can be found in the final search area, intended by Fenn or otherwise.
